Welcome to Wunderland Books!
The seed for Wunderland Books was planted during the Covid-19 pandemic while Seattle was in lockdown. During those long months, one of the brightest joys was the time I spent with my then 8-year-old son, snuggled together in my bed, reading books together. With so little else to do, he tore through novels and finding things for him to read practically became a part-time job.
At first I did what many parents do – buy the books I loved in my childhood. But it turns out that the books that spoke to an 8-year-old girl in Kentucky in 1988 were not the same books that spoke to an 8-year-old boy in 2020 Seattle. And I was at a loss. I wasn’t familiar with new children’s fiction.
So began the journey to find great books that my son would love, and my rediscovery of the amazing world of children’s literature. That rediscovery has become this bookstore. How fortunate we are to live in a time where such incredible, creative, diverse art is being created by writers all around the world. My son has the opportunity to explore perspectives and cultures in a way that was not accessible in my own childhood.
Wunderland Books is fully focused on new and award-winning fiction for children and teens. You won’t find titles older than 10 years old here. What you will find is a curated collection of titles for youth aged 4-17, hand-selected with care, packed by me and shipped to your door.
We are also focused on creating easy ways for schools to raise funds, so check out our fundraising page to see how a portion of each of your purchases can go to the school of your choice.
